Instead, the little glutton becomes a lot heavier. When it's fully grown, your trunk-nosed friend will be almost as heavy as a horse. Wow. Quite a weight. But also very useful. Because if the tapir leans against a tree, it will fall over. This way, when the tapir calf is grown, it can also reach the tastiest fruits hanging way up in the tree. Truly an amazing animal!
